Koh Samui Island Marathon 2011

Travellers to Thailand will be able to take part in the Samui Island Marathon 2011, which is to be held next month.
Organised by local airline Bangkok Air, the race event is being conducted for the second time on September 18th 2011, with between 2,000 and 3,000 people from Thailand and abroad set to participate.

The marathon is designed to attract more visitors to the popular tourist spot of Koh Samui during the low season and will allow participants to experience the island on foot, over the course of a lengthy race that starts and finishes at Nathon Pier.
It will be divided into a number of categories, including full, half and quarter marathons as well as fun run events, with those running the complete course set to travel more than 40km.

The ultimate dream for high-end competitors will be a chance to claim the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Cup, as well as a prize of more than three million baht (£61,400).
